Biography

Tony graduated from Wilkes Central High School in 1974, where he participated in athletics (football for four years and track for two years) and was a Morehead Scholar nominee. He attended college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated in 1978. He then attended law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 1981. Once school was completed, he returned to Wilkes County, North Carolina, where he grew up, and that same year joined the firm of Vannoy, Moore & Colvard. In 1985 he became a partner, and he has remained with the firm since that time. Currently the firm is practicing under the name of Vannoy, Colvard, Triplett & Johnson.

Tony is married to the former Susie Duncan of North Wilkesboro and they have two adult children, Brad and Lorie Triplett. Lorie, following in her father’s footsteps, works at Vannoy, Colvard, Triplett & Johnson as a real estate paralegal and assists her father in his work as Wilkes County Attorney. In his free time, Tony enjoys being outdoors and working in his yard, along with spending time with Susie, Brad, and Lorie, and their dog, Arty.
